Hanna August 2009: Hannah Hudson was awarded the Best Presentation at the culmination of the Virginia Tech Bioengineering and Bioinformatics Summer Institute.
sara July 2009: A published paper by PhD student Sara Matrangola was featured in a news release by the American College of Sports Medicine. In this paper, Sara investigated interventions for fall prevention in obese individuals. Check it out here.
Hanna

June 2009: Hannah Hudson has joined the lab as a summer intern as a part of the Virginia Tech Bioengineering and Bioinformatics Summer Institute funded by the NIH and NSF.  Hannah is a junior in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University, and will work on the development of a powered ankle orthotic to be used in subsequent research projects.

kellen March 2009: ESM undergraduate student Kellen Shain was awarded a Summer Internship with Nike.  He will be working at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon for 10 weeks on three separate projects centered around team sports equipment.
sara July 2008: PhD student Sara Matrangola was chosen as a semi-finalist for the Student Presentation Competition at the 2008 Society of Engineering Science Meeting in Urbana-Champaign, IL later this year.

July 2008: PhD student Dennis Anderson was awarded a highly-competitive 3-year National Research Service Award from the National Institute on Aging of the National Institute of Health.

katie April 2008: PhD student Katie Bieryla was awarded an American Association of University Women Educational Foundation Selected Professions Fellowship for the 2008-2009 academic year.
sara April 2008: MS student Sara Matrangola was awarded a prestigious 3-year National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship sponsored by the Department of Defense. Sara was also awarded a 4-year VT-ICTAS Doctoral Scholar Award (declined) and Honorable Mention for a Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowship. Wow!
katie December 2007: PhD student Katie Bieryla was awarded a Graduate Research and Development Program grant to help support her research.
dennis August 2007: PhD student Dennis Anderson was awarded a ESM Teaching Fellowship for Fall 2007.
