June 2009: Hannah Hudson has joined the lab as a summer intern as a part of the Virginia Tech Bioengineering and Bioinformatics Summer Institute funded by the NIH and NSF. Hannah is a junior in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University, and will work on the development of a powered ankle orthotic to be used in subsequent research projects. |

March 2009: ESM undergraduate student Kellen Shain was awarded a Summer Internship with Nike. He will be working at Nike headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon for 10 weeks on three separate projects centered around team sports equipment. |

July 2008: PhD student Sara Matrangola was chosen as a semi-finalist for the Student Presentation Competition at the 2008 Society of Engineering Science Meeting in Urbana-Champaign, IL later this year. |

April 2008: MS student Sara Matrangola was awarded a prestigious 3-year National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship sponsored by the Department of Defense. Sara was also awarded a 4-year VT-ICTAS Doctoral Scholar Award (declined) and Honorable Mention for a Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowship. Wow! |
